Introducing Processing Pain

Years ago, as a graduate computer science student, I experienced severe chronic pain. I was passed from doctor to physiotherapist to acupuncturist but nobody had an explanation for the pain, and nobody could alleviate my symptoms.

Having already done research in cognitive science, I decided to do a large literature review. Within a few months I had several realizations that eventually allowed me to resolve my own pain condition. I was deeply saddened and frustrated at the lack of understanding in various medical professions about the latest science of pain.

Since then, I have continued to deepen my research into the mechanism and treatment behind persistent pain. I now believe that many millions of people suffering chronic pain, given the right set of techniques, can significantly reduce or resolve their pain in the course of a few weeks. Of course, this claim should not be taken lightly, and this site will refer to many different forms of empirical evidence.

Processing Pain is my effort to explain the latest in pain science, and curate the various techniques I wish I had at the beginning of my journey with chronic pain.
